STUDIO FOUNDER
JEANETTE DIDON
Jeanette Didon is an internationally recognized hospitality designer with over two decades of experience creating restaurants, bars and nightlife destinations. She is the Founder and Creative Director of BYBLACK NYC, an internationally operating design studio established in New York over a decade ago, where she continues to create distinctive hospitality concepts for clients across North America and Europe.
Educated in Interior Architecture & Furniture Design at Stockholm's prestigious Konstfack University of Arts, Didon's greatest expertise extends far beyond design itself. Having worked exclusively alongside restaurateurs throughout her entire career, she has developed an exceptional understanding of how hospitality businesses operate—from guest flow and service logistics to atmosphere, commercial strategy and brand identity.
Rather than imposing a signature style, Didon begins by understanding each client's ambitions, operational model and long-term vision. Every project is rooted in the realities of hospitality, translating business objectives into highly original environments that elevate the guest experience while strengthening the identity, performance and longevity of each venue.
Her career began designing acclaimed restaurants and Michelin-starred venues in Stockholm before moving to New York, where she collaborated with hospitality pioneers Serge Becker and Matt Abramczyk. She later served as Design Director at Neighborhood Projects and Head of Interior Design at Safari Sundays before founding BYBLACK NYC, which continues to create internationally recognized hospitality destinations.
Today, Didon continues to design restaurants, bars and nightlife destinations for clients internationally. The majority of the venues she has created remain open and continue to thrive many years after opening—an uncommon distinction in an industry where even celebrated concepts often have a short lifespan. Her work has received international recognition from leading design and lifestyle publications, establishing her as one of the leading voices in contemporary hospitality design.
She designs like a restaurateur thinks.
